Led by Fred Granger & Dana Peterson
Ten years ago, Fred Granger a partner in the Four Fossils Granite Company, decided to begin construction of a stone tower, a life long ambition. Fred collaborated with Dana Peterson whose property overlooks Carver’s Harbor on West Main Street across from the fisherman’s parking lot and Greet’s Eats. Dana’s father, Ambrose, was a graduate of the first class at the Maine Merchant Marine Academy. He served in World War II on a Liberty Ship ferrying supplies and soldiers across the dangerous Atlantic. With this background, Dana and Fred decided to dedicate the new tower to Merchant Mariners everywhere who ply the world’s oceans risking their lives to deliver cargo around the globe. After years of dedicated work, skill, and tons of granite, Fred is getting close to finishing his dream. See the nearly completed project and walk the grounds on Sept 13 at 1:00 pm.
